Hey! My name is Sam Hinds. I am the owner and engineer at Three Hound Sound. My goal is to be as useful as I possibly can be to your goals in the creative process. A list of frequently asked questions on availability, booking, location, sending files, etc is below. If your question is not answered, feel free to reach out and we'll make sure we get you right!
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
When is the next open date?
100% of open availability is found on our booking site / calendar below for all sessions. If it is not on the site, it is unavailable.
Is mixing a separate fee?
No. For our process with vocal based recording sessions, mixing is included in session. You will leave with a mastered 24bit WAV file for no additional fee. 5 free revision mixes are provided if needed after the session to get everything how we want it.
(For band / drum sessions additional mixing and editing is typically required which will be priced and/or booked an additional session)
Do you record bands?
Yes! If you are a bands looking to record at Three Hound Sound, please use our band inquiry link to reach out to discuss setting up some dates. This is separate from our standard vocal recording sessions.
I want to send files for mixing. How do I do that?
1. Bounce "dry" individual 24 bit WAV files of each track in your session with plugins removed. Put them in a folder then compress that folder to a "zip" file to email us.
2. Compress a GarageBand, Logic or Pro Tools session to a "zip" file then email.
Will you make beats or produce my song for me?
No. Three Hound Sound is an audio engineering specialized studio offering tracking, editing, vocal production, mixing and mastering. Songwriting, instrumentals and beat production are not
services we offer.
How will I get my files?
After the session, you will be sent a private link with a folder containing all your masters. All alternate versions, stems, radio edits etc. will always be in that folder. You can also bring a physical drive if you want a copy of your Pro Tools session or any other deliverables from the studio.
How many guests are allowed in the studio?
The main studio can occupy around 6-7 while the lounge can hold an additional 8-9. For shorter sessions, it is recommended to keep your group small. For longer sessions, having more writers, artists and producers on hand is welcome and encouraged.
Additional good to know stuff
- A 50% deposit will be taken when you book, the remaining 50% of the payment will be due after the session.
- All rooms at Three Hound Sound are smoke free although you are welcome to in our back smoking area.
- Photography / filming is welcome and encouraged.

Sending Files for Mixing and Mastering

All files for any in-person or online session can be sent to record@threehoundsound.com

For mastering only please send a single 24 bit WAV file of the final mix

Larger files can be sent to the same address as a WeTransfer link, or Dropbox / Google Drive link

When sending your vocal + beat files make sure all your plugins are bypassed or removed

Always make sure to bounce vocal + beat files as 24 bit WAV files for the highest quality

Always include a reference bounce with your files, which is the latest version of your own mix of your song that you have bounced out or have been given. It can be a single mp3, m4a, or WAV.

Please always label your tracks in your song before you send them (Lead vocal, Adlib, BGV, Harm etc.) Doesn't have to be anything too strict but enough to allow us more time to mix and less time to have to label and guess what part goes where.
